Anchorage vote centers are open as April 4 city election approaches

Anchorage’s in-person vote centers opened Monday for residents to cast their ballots in the April 4 regular city election.

While Anchorage uses a vote-by-mail system, it also has three in-person vote centers open to registered voters. So if your ballot has been lost or damaged, if you didn’t receive one, if you need assistance voting, or if you’d like to cast a vote in-person, you can stop by a vote center.

The centers will be open on weekdays through April 3 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; on Saturday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and on Sunday, April 2, from noon to 5 p.m. On Election Day, April 4, vote centers will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

Locations are:

• City Hall downtown; 632 West Sixth Ave., Room 105.

• Loussac Library in Midtown; 3600 Denali St., in the Assembly chambers.

• Eagle River Town Center; 12001 Business Blvd., Community Room 170 (Only Chugiak/Eagle River ballots are available at this location.)

The city also has 18 secure drop boxes where voters can return their ballots until 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Mailed-in ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, and voters who return their ballot envelopes the day before or on Election Day should ask a postal official to hand-stamp the envelope with a postmark to ensure their ballot is counted.

Seven of 12 Anchorage Assembly seats and two Anchorage School Board seats are up for election. Fourteen ballot propositions will also be decided by Anchorage voters in this election, including a school bond.
