The city clerk’s office on Tuesday sent ballots to Anchorage voters for the mayoral runoff election.
Voters can expect ballot packages in their mailboxes by May 7 or sooner, according to the clerk’s office.
The last day to submit ballots in the runoff election is May 14.
Voters will decide between incumbent Mayor Dave Bronson and challenger Suzanne LaFrance, a former Anchorage Assembly chair.
The two advanced to a runoff following the regular election on April 2, in which no mayoral candidate received more than 45% of the vote required to win outright. As the top two vote-getters, LaFrance received 36.2% of the vote and Bronson received 35.6% of the vote.
In a written statement Tuesday, the clerk’s office said it had mailed 207,951 ballot packages to registered voters for the runoff.
Voters can return ballots by mail; by turning them in at one of 18 secure drop boxes around the city; or by bringing them to one of Anchorage’s three vote centers.
Secure drop box locations can be found online at muni.org/elections. Vote centers will open May 7, and are located at City Hall, the Loussac Library and Eagle River Town Center. This year, there are new ADA-accessible voting machines available at vote centers for people with disabilities.
