A late-season burst of snow is in the forecast through Friday for higher elevations in Southcentral Alaska.
Snow is expected to taper off by Thursday morning, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Michael Kutz. But another wave of snow was expected to hit the region Thursday afternoon and continue into Friday morning.
One to 2 inches of snow could accumulate in areas above about 800 feet of elevation, Kutz said. Throughout the Anchorage Bowl, precipitation is more likely to fall as rain, he said.
Roads may be slick in the morning on Thursday and Friday, Kutz said.
It’s rare to see snow this late in the season, Kutz said. Any snow that does fall likely won’t stick around for long, although lower temperatures are forecast to linger through the weekend, he said.
