Letter: Snow removal

Recently, I had a conversation with an out-of-town guest from a northern Canadian city that has as much or more snow than our fair city of Anchorage. He was shocked/dismayed/flab-bergasted at the state of our roads and at the lack of snow removal from our municipality.

It seems that every year, winter catches this city with its pants down around its ankles when that first storm hits. I live downtown, commute to South Anchorage and have yet to see a grader/plow roaming any streets.

My guess is that they are broken down in the barn waiting for repairs and that we will all share the one working piece of machinery available to us: our own ingenuity.

Thanks to the municipality for keeping our roads safe and clean.
