Letter: Expecting better in D.C. crash aftermath

Upon learning about the horrific midair crash between the American Airlines flight and the military Black Hawk helicopter Wednesday night, I was saddened and distressed. We all want to understand how this can happen. The loss of life is overwhelming. As an American, I expect our leaders to react first with compassion and empathy for those lost and their families and friends. Instead, President Trump attributed the accident to “DEI” and blamed it on previous administration policies. There is no place for anger and divisiveness toward unknown Americans in a time of tragedy. I’m appalled and disgusted at the lack of real leadership and sensitivity demonstrated by a man elected to be president for all Americans.
