FBI officials moved aggressively Thursday to dispel questions about the shooting death Tuesday of one of the most high-profile occupiers of a rural Oregon wildlife refuge, releasing a video that appears to show the man reaching for a loaded handgun.

A little-known cadre of warriors who served in the U.S. military as green-card holders -- permanent legal residents but not U.S. citizens -- then committed a crime after returning to civilian life have been convicted and punished, then permanently expelled from the U.S.

It looks like a high school science project, but it was developed by two post-doctoral mechanical engineers at MIT. And it just might be a breakthrough that creates wealth and jobs in the United States and transforms the white-hot industry of oil and natural gas hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. That is, as long as the foreign-born inventors aren't forced to leave the country.
