It is beyond comprehension why Alaska legislators should receive automatic pay raises when they have failed in the most basic of public needs — that of funding education. Reserve automatic raises for education, with increases for inflation, but without strings attached that violate separation of church and state.I’d be ashamed to accept a raise of any kind, while knowing that so many fundamental services go begging while at the same time free money is handed out. Do the majority of legislators really lack the logic to see the relationship between our population decline and inadequate services?
