Letter: What we’re witnessing isn’t governance

Extreme political polarization fosters the illusion that every MAGA hat wearer is inherently malicious and that anyone advocating for economic fairness must be a Marxist. Neither claim holds true. However, as the second Trump administration systematically dismantles the very institutions that have defined America’s greatness on the world stage, its actions stand in direct opposition to true patriotism. What we are witnessing is not governance, but the vindictive tantrum of a deeply resentful narcissist intent on punishing those who have dared to see him for what he is — an immature autocrat with a severe personality disorder. The survival of our democracy under a regime where cruelty is the guiding principle remains uncertain at best.
